About Me.
So you do wanna know more about me... well have fun here! dumped a lot of info of myself, not all of it but hope it satisfyes... but if yet you wanna know something, feel free to email me!
Well, let's talk about the technologies part first i guess. I've always been learning and tinkering with technologies, and as mentioned i started at age of 3 using the computer, right by the side of my mother in the office of the small company my family used to have (it went bankrupt BOOOOO PFFFFF but whatever) and i started using it with Windows98, man, at age of 5 i did learn how to install drivers and at the same time i was barely able to color drawings and staying in the lines. what a wild kid lol.
After the first 13 years ish of me getting to be used to the pc i did my technically first build of a pc without knowing anything. The company did go bankrupt and all the stuff inside was not yet taken by the banks and stuff so i was able to pick up some of the old computers that were inside (talking about the intel socket LGA775... the core 2 duo still haunts me...) and i remember picking up few pc to use and do a full frankenstein of a desktop, the main mistake? was taking a gpu from a slightly older socket (that i do NOT remember, but i remember it was a Pentium) and putting that in the LGA 775 and the pc beeping like i was stabbing it when i tried to turn it on, the memories were both DDR2 i did knew that at least...
I didn't had much context for anything else tho, not how to update bios, how to really install windows either, that was my first time installing it, not that difficult but hey, it did work kinda! also... no GPU. the best games i could play? Quake 2 and with very VERY low settings Need for speed: Most Wanted... the old one not the new one. so you can imagine the CRAAAZY powerhouse i had (but i did have 8 gb of DDR2! that's a fortune nowdays!!!) and now, here i am, i did multiple pc builds for friends mostly, family has always been reluctant on that or never really asked my help for some reason, even for reinstalling windows. but oh well, they let other IT repair guys work so i don't mind
And now here i am, on neocities managing to learn some of HTML (sadly i can't say i did all the code here. some friends of mine did help with some bits too, mostly the matrix rain, i then did some tweaks but the basic code and scripts hell nah, not yet. i do want to learn tho, so it's more matter of time than anything) and here to share whatever comes to my mind, i do want to stick on my believings but the blog will be very much a lot of random things. i do also want to add a resource page for stuff i use, or stuff i did take from somewhere else and cool websites that have a bunch of tools, all that sort of stuff, but this is already a massive website. i might take one of the existing pages for now and replace it with the resources tab... MMMMMH gotta think about that.
Well, as mentioned i am a really into film photography. the reason wasn't really for anything i saw online, it was genuinely spotting the old SLR that my father had, and asked if i could try using it, for anyone interested it is a Fuji STX-2 a GREAT camera that is really underlooked for unknown reasons imo. everyone raving on the Canon AE-1 and Nikon F1 or other models, guys. check the STX-1 and STX-2 those are crazy good cameras for the buck and really easy to learn photography too! the glass is suuuper good for the price and it's good glass. ANYWAY i love film photography. why? honestly i don't know. i wasn't into photography already when i started it, it was my first ever experience with photography as a whole, so i am still questioning what really did snap on me, but still. my first experience was on a trip to america, it was mid august of 2022 and i went for 2 weeks in america to meet some people (where one of them became my best friend basically, hi Gil LOL) and it really was my first experience.
Gillian (my best friend) was already into photography, not sure from how much earlier but she did get into it a bit earlier than me, PLUS i must say. even if most of the rolls did turn out really nice, i do NOT suggest someone to take their memories for a trip that you don't know when you'll do it again, on FILM. as a NOOB. please don't do that. i was smart enough to check how a lightmeter did work and managed to learn to use the one of my Fuji, but for god sake, don't do what i did. Do as i say not as i do, ok??? ok. with that said, a spark in me started, i really enjoyed the whole process for film, and no i'm not really talking about the time to wait for the developing and stuff. but the tactility, i loved the feeling of the camera, aswell as being able to actually hold the photos in the hand, that is most likely one of the reasons but it's more a "after" trying it that you get it, not as you do it, so i dunno still.
Yet i started doing what every person that got into film photography does. buying a shitload of cameras LOL. i can't say i do enjoy having overall 17 film cameras (2 are small cine cameras, a double8mm and a super8 camera, both from canon) but i must say, there is more of a reason to own more than one camera for film photography than for digital. not for the format itself, even for just the functionalities, an example? if i ever have to choose 2 film cameras to have with me would be my Nikkormat (can't remember the real model) and my Canon A-1, why? the Nikkormat is a mechanical tank that can last a fuck ton of time, a 65 years span of lens being produced for that mount and really REALLY good feeling overall, the canon A-1 yes for the canon glass and all, but mostly for it's electric shutter, the ability of double exposure AND auto shot timer of 2 seconds and a max shutter speed of 30 seconds. the photo i took of the street lights? was done with more exposures of 30 seconds each at 2 am. here you go.
Last but not least yes. i did have a dark room and i did learn how to develop film, i also printed out some photos on my enlarger! if you don't know what any of this means, just you wait for the blog posts. HEHEHE, i got a lot to talk about here. an AWFUL LOT
- Digital film grain is shit. why? it adds a mask of noise over the photo, if you don't know the difference or can't really spot it, it does look charming, but the difference is when you understand that the film grain in the actual film is basically the pixel of the photo, the grain itself is building the photo, it's not a layer on top of it to make it dirty or whatever. with that said, do what you want and as you like. not here to stop anyone, but i will complain like the old man that screams at the clouds.
- You know i used to be able to put both legs behind my head? sadly i can't anymore both of them at the same time, but i can still one of them! both left or right!
- As a ex working chef i never really saw the interest into michelin stars. knowing what's behind i don't think it's a truly good measure for freedom of kitchen for the chef that obtains it. it requires a lot of specific labours inside, specific tools and it doesn't feel as only made for the skill of the chef itself but a mix of the chef pleasing the needyness of the michelin guide while adding what they can to the menu. (this is i think the most hot topic for people that do go to michelin restaurants lol) but to still break a wrong believing, no you do not leave the restaurant with michelin stars still hungry, hell, be smart and take their menu with multiple small dishes if you want to try one. it's an experience, not a place to get and only "eat", it's complicated...
- I suck at stealth games. even the easier ones, that means i never finished The Last of Us.
- I talk to myself a LOT. mostly for logical thinking, if i have a topic in my head that i have to brainstorm, talking out "loud" (i would not scream but i'm not like dead silent, i would talk to myself yes) makes me process much quicker the things i have in mind and logically make the most out of them, understand where i did wrong or stuff i have to improve etc etc...
